Hi, my name is Emily. I am a licensed addiction counselor and ADHD life coach in Bozeman, Montana. I founded Recovery Chrysalis to offer neurodivergent-affirming treatment for people struggling with substance abuse.
I began working with people struggling with substance misuse in 2017 as an intern and case manager for the non-profit, Families Free located in Johnson City, TN. In May 2018 I graduated with undergraduate degrees in Social Work and Business Administration from Milligan University. I earned a masters degree in Addiction Counseling from Grand Canyon University and graduated in the spring of 2021. I completed a 12-month certification program with the International ADHD Coach Training Center to become a Certified ADHD Life Coach.
As a counselor and coach, I am passionate about creating a safe space for everyone to discover their authentic selves and work towards their goals.
As a substance use counselor, I have a harm reduction approach; meaning you don't need to be working towards sobriety to work with me. I can help you reduce your drinking and/or drug use and associated high risk behaviors. I enjoy helping people struggling with substance abuse develop adaptive coping skills, increase self-esteem, improve their relationships and enhance overall quality of life.
As a coach, I enjoy working with neurodivergent individuals close the gap between their current state and their potential. I help you identify your strengths, values and blind spots and help you develop unique pathways towards your goals.
The chrysalis is home to the butterfly during a vulnerable stage of its development. Butterflies undergo dramatic growth while in the its chrysalis and actually digest their bodies from the inside into a liquid, leaving behind only the insect's most vital organs. The remaining specialized cells get to work developing the butterfly's new body and wings. When butterflies emerge from their chrysalis, their wings are soft and crumpled. They spread their wings to encourage blood flow before they take flight.
Substance use recovery and other lifestyle changes can feel like you're building an entirely new version of yourself- "liquifying" the parts of your life you've outgrown. Our name honors the courage it takes to be vulnerable and allow yourself to evolve.
